D.I.Y.  Redevelopment

Reinforced concrete, gypsum board, light gauge steel, two-by-four wood, etc.

This is an installation work for a gallery space which has a huge lighting window on the wall. I felt resistance to this gallery space ,which was designed rationally and had a limited use. So, I blocked a light from the window by setting up a huge partition in front of a huge window. This work is an attempt to redevelop the gallery space by dismantling the use of the lighting window.

The light escaping from the gap of the partition is the natural itself that cannot be controlled by human intellect. I think it is possible to emphasize the existence of nature by daringly adding a person's hand to an artificial space.
